fc utd, what a joke, no ground of their own yet charging the highest prices in their league, fans no doubt will all disappear when the novelty wears off, if they do stick with the team and they keep getting promoted what will they do, surely the point of this sad outfit is to stay in the lower divisions of english football?
Good to see that such stylish dress sense has survived from the seventies. Its like travelling in a time machine. Is that Christopher Ecclestone I see there too?
this new 'united' club is a farce what have they to do with us at Old Trafford? Answer Nothing so why call yourselves utd of manchester enjoy deluding yourselves watching park footballers for B#10 a go HAHAHAHAHA
Real Deal - thanks for the comment. I agree 100%. This is the saddest group of rejects I have ever seen. What a scam the FCUM board has going here: Pretend you are Man U, play in a league with a bunch of pub and church teams, sell lots of poorly made gear and clean out the fans pockets! Capitalism and opportunism at its best!
Interesting the times of these four postings. The Tampa double posting saddo strikes again. Get help, you need help!
People are more than happy who attend FC Uniteds games and you can't take that away from them, supporting a 'Football Club' is their choice. An example being 2000+ away to Cheadle, great game, brilliant atmosphere and only B#6 to get in on the other hand B#26 and upwards for a European game, dour game and a dour atmosphere. I watched it on TV and almost fell asleep. I don't see the joke in people paying over the top for the over hyped PL but then again its their choice. European style of football in England is wearing thin. Watchin Fccccc
My multiple personalities are multiplying soon I won't know what to call myself.
Red Sam - It is so wonderful to see people like yourself waking up to the fraud that FCUM purports to the good football fans of Bury. Maybe if enough people ask enough questions, eventually the delusioned persons attending their games will wake up and ask "What the heck am I doing here?" and "Why did I fall for this?"
ha ha i see the joke tommy tampa and red sam ???? pub football, ripped off, get fed up, B#10 to get in .....what happened on tues ...ans :- pub footie B#36 pounds to get in , 7000 down on gate.get to gigg its B#7 to get in, crowds are rising GREAT athmosphere and not owned by a rip off yank or prawn buttie brigade ...ask keano...then again you keep stuffing your money into that gready yanks back pocket....
I'm taking my camera on Saturday Col. I'll be a bit like the tourists at OT but it's only for one day. Not driving this week so I hope it does n't go the way of the 4 mobile phones I've lost. I got a bit bored with the game but Beeney was magnificent in Property Ladder. I'm now thinking of investing in another property. Any further news on Torpeys injury? Is Wayne from Bradford Wayne the gas man? Does anybody know?
One thing I've never fully understood is why these "so called" supporters ever set up FCUM and deserted MUFC? I was always been under the impression that you stood by your club no matter what b " the club was bigger and more important than anyone. This is an important first principle of support b " you cannot stop supporting a club because someone you don't like comes along. To add insult to injury here, firstly none of the FCUM even gave Glazer a chance - he decides to financially restructure the club basically to the same model that most PLC's have, and there's mass uproar b " I didn't realise United had so many experts in running multi-million pound companies b " maybe there the same experts who believe they understand team formation better than international football managers!!! I'm more interested in the team and the manager than the financial niceties of how the club is run. Never has the phrase "when the going gets tough b " the weak F-off" been more relevant. If the club falls five divisions b " faces bankruptcy b " and becomes the laughing stock of Europe b " I'll still be there supporting them!
dave the footie played by the real utd this week wasnt top class but you are totally deluded if you think it was pub standard - that's what you'll be watching tomorrow - along with a crowd about the size of burys - sad cases the lot of you - check out the comments by steve - real fans dont go crying off home the minute there's something that they disagree with - try being a real supporter, i dont agree with glazer but i wasnt keen on mcmanus/magnier, edwards snr + jnr but i supported them and will always do so, who do you intend going to support when you've something happens at fcum you dont agree with?
I just don't understand how you can walk away from your club? This is the cardinal sin in football; you just don't do it b " no matter what!! As far as I can see the only reason fans left to form FCUM are as follows:
1) We don't like the way the club is financially managed
2) We don't like the club being commercial
3) We don't like Glazer's beard
Personally I don't like any of the above either, but you walk away is to completely miss the point about support. Let me sum up FCUM supporters for you in one clear phrase - its great when the going is great, but it's so hard to be a supporter when things are difficult, I think I'll walk away. So lads, this is a concept I don't recognise?
so lets get this right dave you slag utd off for a poor performance in the CL this week as a reason for not supporting them - of course the standard of football at Gigg Lane will be much better - but only when Bury are playing - keep on deluding yourself saddo
Steve, Cornwall - You thought wrong! United took our support and money for granted as well. My 'match going' support goes back to 1981. Some fans a lot longer. I've done with being exploited by a bunch of suites and greedy players. We don't care about Rio and his grotesque wage, we're Havana laugh. You can please yourself as I'm sure you will. Anyway, there's now't wrong with a bit of punk rock'n'roll football. It's a great day out and doesn't pay one penny off the mortgage of a freeloading yank. Has anyone heard any news on that shipment of Cuban flags yet? There's going to be another backlog at this rate. Cuban cigar smoking day tomorrow. Che Guevara 'T' shirts for all. Viva la football revolution. Viva la FCUM.
Hey guys we are getting dragged into postings about justifying our choice. Let's not get drawn into conversation with people who sound like Malcolm Uparamsbottom. Let us stick to the footie and enjoy ourselves. It was a choice we made and nobody put our hands up our backs. Leave them to their own opinion to which they are entitled. I have been invited to OT tomorrow on a corporate - not for me chaps its Gigg Lane here I come. I don't respond to Malcolm or Tommy any more even though Malcolm calls me Pinknocchio. Under the boardwalk watching FCeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeee
Free Red b " It sounds a great laugh being a FCUM fan for sure. I'm pretty sure your Havana laugh and it's very true that you don't line the pockets of United plc, I'm a little jealous to be honest, but I'm afraid I can never join you.
The main point I disagree with, and I know many fans feel the same is that we feel that you bailed out when the going got tough. I don't understand your point about exploitation, I really don't? MUFC is playing top flight football with some of the best players in the world in the team, the price they charge you watch them reflects this. Player's salaries may appear high but this is simple market forces at work. Top players can command a bigger slice of the pie, when football is doing well, the pie is very big. In every single walk of life this happens, why is MUFC any different?
Ted,Chorlton. Fair play to you and anyone who still goes to OT, its your choice as its mine to go to watch FC Utd. I started going to watch them after being an OT regular of 30yrs because (my personal view) it no longer feels like a football club. Bit by bit it has been chipped away. You state that the going is tough now but the difference this time is that Glazer has turned the club upside down and the result will be he will fail miserably at everybodies expense including his own. I feel this in my heart and cannot be a part of it so i found the nearest thing that Man Utd FC could survive in some way. There's no 'you and us' scenario here, only the way we see things going in the future. No one can question my loyalty but only my ability to read a crystal ball but then again i could question anybodies ability to do such a thing.
Daz in Notts . I went to my first match in '65 . Many of us dug in through relegation and finishing 8th on a regular basis ( so 2nd ,3rd, 4th is no hardship ) . It's nonsense to cite the current lack of silverware ; that would only put off daytrippers. But back then it was a football club to which you could become emotionally attached . It was OUR football club and we were its supporters on a crusade to commemorate the flower of '58 . (from Salford , Ireland , wherever ) Now it's a just a globalised brand that a rich yank wants to milk to make himself richer . It's like one of those horror films where everybody looks the same 'cept they aint . (In those films there's always a few innocents who don't know what's happened and carry on as normal .... for a while !)Having copped on , some of us have been through all the stages of a grieving process ; it isn't easy to turn your back on a constant companion of 40 years . But Glazer's parasitic occupation was the final stage in the move from emotion driven football fan to manipulated mug . If you want to pay his mortgage off , that's your business . Viva FCUM
Ted, Cholton - You asked why is MUFC any different? You seem like a reasonable bloke and you make fair and understandable reading. I respect your right to choose and truly wish you all the best for the season. I still watch United on TV when games don't clash. The thing is I don't go back on my word. When I stood up in O.T. and said I wasn't for sale' I meant it. Contra to popular belief, some of us still have shares in United. I received a 430A for from Glazers bunch offering to buy at B#3.00/share. That pro-forma is still in my possession unsigned. I was also sent a '490' form (I think that was the name) telling me my shares were to be compulsory purchased. I was forewarned of it coming and refused to sign for the recorded delivery letter. The post took it back. I still have my share certificates and have received no money. I was never contribute to paying the Glazer false debt. If it weren't for FC United, I would resign myself to TV games only or not bother at all. There are supposed to be 75 million United fans world wide, yet there are only 68,210 seats at O.T. So why wasn't there a que for the other 7,000+ seats v. Lille? It strikes me that the majority of United fans only watch TV games to wit they are not effected by the hostile take over. Yet it's those fans who constantly say "get behind the team". Oh, never mind the false debt, extortionate ticket prices, boring day trippers, shut up, sit down, credit card forms in your face (and now I understand through the post) tat merchandise I'm supposed to buy, crap food at ridiculous prices etc. etc. It's not on! There is a myth the Glazers are good business me. WRONG! They are good at expunging money out of people. The Buc's were superbowl champions two seasons ago yet last year the Bucs finished bottom of the league. Reason, the Glazers took the fans money, sold off the best players, didn't replace them with the right quality and basically sold the fans down the river. But not before the Glazers had quadruples their investment. I an absolutley convinced they will do, indeed are doing, the same at United and worse. The level of debt and interest on is staggering. The total cost including interest is over B#0.9 Billion. That's if the Glazer plan works. Not one single financial analyst can explain how it can. Still, that matters not to Glazer. All he need to is asset strip. Sell this off, sell that off and recoup their investment plus profit. Never mind United, It's money Glazer loves. That's why I am paying B#50/month into my Phoenix account out of the money I would be giving to the Glazers to pay off THEIR DEBT (not to be confused with market forces). I understand some fans think fans like myself have cut and run. They couldn't be more wrong. As and when, as I believe, the Glazers cut and run leaving United in trouble, I will instruct SU/MUST to empty my account and use the money I would have spent at O.T. on match tickets to help keep the ship afloat. Love United, Hate Glazer. You can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear and lining Glazers pockets won't save United. To do so just prolongs the inevitable. Like any parasite, he takes all and gives nothing. One last thought. There's more to supporting a football club than standing on the terraces. How many United fans who only watch TV games are setting money aside for United as I am? I would like to think more than the 32,000 SU members do. You asked why is MUFC any different. This is over view is why.
Free Red,Manchester. You'll have to excuse my ignorance but i'm a tad confused. If Glazer ends up selling Man Utd off (as i think he will also) and you say SU will be there to pick up the pieces, whats puzzling me is what will happen to FC Utd. There is a lot of confusion around and i'm just trying to ask your personnal view on what you see happening, I love Man Utd but i also love FC Utd and think that only one will survive in the future, but which one ? Watchin Fccccc
Free Red - Your knowledge of the Buccaneers situation is very lacking. The Bucs have one of the best records in the NFL this year! You also don't understand how the NFL works. Every team operates with a salary ceiling and floor. When you win the Super Bowl, like the Bucs did in 2002, the players deservingly will ask for more money and management has to decide which players they can afford to keep and which ones they can't. Players are likely to field contract offers from other teams when they have good seasons of course! And 2002 was a culmination of SEVEN YEARS of work by the Glazers and Rich McKay, not just some flash in the pan season. They probably had their best team in 1999, but lost a heart-breaker to St. Louis that year in the NFC title game on a dubious official call. When they won the Super Bowl in 2002, half their players were getting old and near the end of their careers. In NFL terms it is called "rebuilding" when you dump the old guys and start young guys. The Bucs will have Clayton and Cadillac for years to come! Good business decisions by the Glazers and the people they pay to run the team! Which is exactly why you DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT FREE RED. YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE GLAZERS BESIDES STUPID RUMORS AND PREDICTIONS, NONE OF WHICH HAS COME TRUE. You are a "bandwagon" fan and since MUFC haven't won the PL in a few seasons, you were looking for an excuse to bandwagon yourself somewhere else and ended up at FC.
Yanks like Glazer wander the planet 'acquiring' other people's shiny things so they can get richer . It they can't get it cheap they steal it . Oil in the middle east , MUFC , timber in the amazon rain forest( so they can graze cattle , eat them , and get even fatter). They don't give a monkeys about who gets in the way of their greed ; they don't care about global warming (until the hurricanes hit) , iraqis, loading debts onto debt-free football clubs . These people know the price of everything and the value of nothing . Glazer needs mugs to act as a colourful backdrop for his global marketing campaign . Some of us - many who have seen much leaner days than now - aren't prepared to be duped by a grinning corporate raider who empties our wallets while we get to play bit parts as his cheerleaders. FCUM exists to counter the cynical exploitation of people who love football . Glazer and his ilk have to be sent packing , and it can't be done from the inside. Viva FCUM
Col, Gorton - That is a very good question which I have asked myself. I will continue to support FC United whatever happens in the future. For the first time in my life, I don't have a problem supporting two clubs. The thing is Col, I couldn't live with myself if I stood by and did nothing if the worst happens to United. I have absolutley no faith in the Glazers what so ever. If United do go belly up, I want to at least have done something along with other fans that might make a difference. If on the other hand if the Glazers pull a rabbit out of the hat and say "This is how our plan will work", and if the financial experts are proved wrong and we all go "phew! Thank goodness for that, at least United won't go to the wall", the cost's of following the team week in week out will still be beyond the reach of a large number of Uniteds grass roots fans - who are generally the best fans. The ideal solution might be if FC United and United played on alternate week's home and away so fans could mix and match better. We're all the same fans anyway. The alternate weekends are already in place between City and United (without the mix and match) so it is possible. I think this would be of real benefit to fans and this is why. There will always be a relatively low number of away tickets available at all levels. Was it 1500 for United's last Sunderland away game because United fans wouldn't sit down a few years ago? I saw the highlights of this year's fixture and the terraces were empty. What a joke. It occurs to me if only 1500 can get in, that thousands more are either watching TV or out shopping. Almost any fan would choose a live game over watching TV or shopping - especially the latter. I'm sure other fans have other ideas that I would like to discuss at next years AGM. It's defiantly a subject in need of debate. You appreciate these are just a few thought of my own. But for now and the foreseeable future I'll be watchin' FCeee. One last thought on the credibility of the Glazers. The Bucs do have one of the best records in the NFL this year, but like United, they will win nothing because the players wage demands will not be met by the Glazers. That's because the freeloading yanks have taken the fans money and used it to line their own pockets instead of investing in the team which is what all fans want. As though the Glazers don't have enough money. They made millions when they practically held the people of Tamps to ransom. They agreed with the local Government to pay half towards the Bucs new stadium. Part of the arrangement was to allow the local community to use the stadium free of charge for other events. On completion, Glazer threatened to take the Bucs to another state if he wasn't given ownership of the whole stadium. The local Government caved in and now have to pay Glazer for use of the stadium they paid for in the first place. You will not striking similarities to the hostile take over at OT in that he is trying to get fans to buy United for him through inflated ticket prices and merchandise. I won't pay. I've dug the dirt on these monsters and what I have written so far is just an appetiser. FCUM
Samaritans, Manchester 2005! You paranoid android you. Talk about conspiracy theorist. Good on you Red Sam and Steve from Cornwall for questioning these plastic reds motives. They are not real fans and they never were. What true fan would stop supporting the club they love simply because they didn't like the Chairman or the Board or the Owner. Pathetic.
