FC United 6 Daisy Hill 0

ANOTHER league record crowd - the second in four days - saw FC United run out 6-0 winners at home to Daisy Hill.

A crowd of 3,808 packed into Gigg Lane and saw their side make a more positive and determined start than in previous matches.

The Reds however had to wait until the 28th minute for the breakthrough.

Jos Mitten was fouled on the edge of the box and from the free-kick Darren Lyons fired through the wall, giving the keeper little chance.

United stepped up a gear and hit Daisy Hill with three goals in five minutes.

Mitten headed home on 32 minutes after a good cross from Lyons and minutes later Simon Carden stabbed the ball home to make it 3-0.

On 37 minutes Mitten, who was to be named man of the match, beat the offside trap and when his shot was parried by the keeper Rory Patterson slotted the ball home to make it four.

The second half was less dramatic on the goals front with United frequently frustrated by the linesman's flag and by an improved performance from Daisy Hill.

Adie Orr became the fifth different scorer after 54 minutes.

Both sides had goals disallowed before Orr scored his second after 84 minutes with a screamer from 25 yards flying into the top of the net.

Six points and nearly 7,000 supporters through the turnstiles in two games completed a superb week for the club.

Was this United's best performance? Have your say.

God bless FCUM, and all who sail in her!

Daisy Hill were patsies for the Field of Dreams pub team. So far only the Norton Warriors have been prepared to show the hype for what it is.

Is the MEN a PR machine for FCUM. If so why do you continually refuse to post not libelous comments? What is your problem there. Are you journalists or messengers?

There's something stirring here with FC. People are not only taking notice, they're voting with their feet and turning up in record numbers. They like what they see. They think it's good value for money and entertaining. It's not just Manchester United who should take notice, but every professional club in England. FC's greatest appeal is the fact that it is the antithesis of MUFC. I pay to watch both by the way.

6-0 sounds good. But to be honest there were just over 3000 fans coz the real UNITED didnt play this weekend... And I support the real UNITED till death. Nevertheless I like FC (just a little bit).. What do you think or feel about MUFC? What do want to do if we succeed in killing off the glaziiiers??? Deep in your heart you are still red devils and want to see United back on track and hope for the 16th Championship medal dont you?? of course you do!

It was certainly the best performance by the FC fans. I hope all the big United fans who came down for the first time enjoyed themselves and realised that there is no anymosity between the two and probably recognised a few faces from the past. The two teams can exist and do not need to be mutually exclusive, as we all know that we are the true heart of Man Utd, Glazer can never buy that.(Right sides for girls!)

PR Machine for FC? If they dont post adverse comments, you chimp, how come they keep letting you post your nonsense every day? By the way, if you are not a fan how come you have more postings than anyone else? Does your mum let you out enough? I suspect not! By the way if some half wit from Mosside can pretend to be from Tampa, why cant I be cantona?

Come on you reds!

Malcolm the fake - "libelous" - should n't that be "libellous"? Pub team b" check your facts Mr Fake b" the squad includes an ex schoolboy international, ex pros and lads who have played at league and conference level. Great day, great crowd and great result. Things can only get better. Red Tom b" just over 3000 fans- that would be 808 over 3000 fans? A little bit more than "just over" then? I hope really do hope that Manchester United win the 16th league title but I will be at Padiham on the last day of the season when FCUoM pick up their first league title . Under the boardwalk watching FCeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeee

cantona, manchester. You only see what has been posted you haven't seen what has been excluded.

I'm just about sick and tired of Malcolm. He just seems to be unable to stay away from this site. You have consistently failed to give one plausible reason for your repeated contributions. If you are so underwhelmed by FC United, what the dickens are you doing constantly posting here? The only possible explanation is that you are worried about FC United and what they represent now, or may represent in the future. As for the other one, Tommy is just about as misinformed as anybody could be. He berates FC fans for choosing Hasta la victoria siempre as a slogan. Cuba is no paradise, but what place would be which was forced to endure a trade blockade instigated by a bully meddling in its affairs? As for his constant sniping about Church League football, well, in terms of playing standards, the NW Counties League IS an inferior product to the Premiership, but this criticism is nonsensical. The NW League is the tenth rung in the pyramid of English football, so as such it defines itself. To carp about small crowds, modest facilities, and so on is an exercise in inanity. A parallel would be something like this: when Tommy takes himself along to his local diner on Main Street, is he constantly saying to himself This isn't as good as the Savoy Grill? It doesn't make sense, does it? What Tommy can't work out is why people would CHOOSE to shun the big time and start from scratch. He can only understand siding with the big guy. That's his philosophy. He, too, has yet to give one rational explanation as to why he is so interested in FC United. I can visualise him, surfing the site, obsessively punching the air at every FC setback, manically checking on crowd numbers at Gigg Lane. FC takes up a big part of what passes for a brain. For heaven's sake, why? Answer that question.

Pinkee is that an FCUM dictionary you've bought?

Fidel, Bay of Pigs. So start answering the questions instead of mouthing platitudes. FCUM playing at the tenth rung of football and you are paying at least 25% of a Premiership admission price. Is that ratio justifiable? If Glazer was running your club you would be claiming he was profiteering. I am neither anti Cuba or anti America but I am pro freedom of speech and freedom of movement. FCUM is a junior club trying to pass itself off as the real United. Why don't you break the association if your intentions are so altruistic. You won't because it pays. Wise up.

Plastic United Bury or for short Pub team. Don't believe the hype.

Malcolm - "I am neither anti Cuba or anti America" . Is it not: either...,or / neither..., nor? Don't they teach you anything at school these days?

Report This Reply

Fidel, ignore those two idiots, everyone else does. They have got their own agenda - who knows they may be paid lackeys of you know who.

Best result yes, but best performance? In my humble opinion probably v. Padiham. Anyway, who said less than 2000 fans for the Oldham game when 3110 turned up Wednesday evening! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Then 3808 for Daisy Hill when the England we're playing at OT! Ha, ha, ha,ha, ha,- and what a party. Read it and weep Tampa boy's, read it and weep!

People go along to FC matches and pay the admission prices because they choose to do so. I think that's called freedom of movement, isn't it? But you still haven't answered my question about why you feel so duty-bound to put people right about the evil that is FC United. It couldn't be anything to do with altruism, could it?
