ROCHDALE came from behind to brush aside a lacklustre Macclesfield side described by manager Brian Horton as embarrassing to record a first home win of the season and move into the top three.
A wonderful goal by former Spotland hero Kevin Townson gave the visitors the lead against the run of play midway through the first half but his joy was short-lived as poor defending from right wing corners cost Macclesfield dear.
Within 90 seconds of each other striker Grant Holt and full back Alan Goodall were allowed free headers from Lambert's deliveries and they obliged with little difficulty.
In the second half Rochdale tore into Macclesfield creating a series of chances but had to wait until the 76th minute when Holt, wearing the captain's armband in an attempt to curb his bad boy reputation produced a magical piece of skill and a powerful finsh to wrap up the points.
