Bury: Barrow calls up old pal

BURY boss Graham Barrow has called on old friend Ray Mathias, the former Tranmere Rovers boss, to help him out on an unpaid basis.

Mathias was installed before last Saturday's 2-0 home victory over Leyton Orient and plans to stay at Gigg Lane for as long as Barrow needs him.

"I needed some help and I am really glad Ray has joined the club," said Barrow. "I couldn't do all the work myself, and Ray is a good friend of mine. He kindly offered to help and I think it will benefit the club."

Bury Reserves lost 2-1 against Shrewsbury Town yesterday after Nicky Adams had given them the lead.
