Derby day: Manchester United and Manchester City to clash in Community Shield on August 7

The Community Shield match between Manchester United and Manchester City at Wembley next month will kick off at 2.30pm on Sunday, August 7.

Tickets for the traditional season-opening fixture range from £20 to £45, with United fans set to be located in the east side of the national stadium and City supporters in the west.

It will be the second Manchester derby at Wembley in the space of four months after City beat United 1-0 in the FA Cup semi-finals on April 16.

The Blues went on to win the cup, their first trophy in 35 years, while United recovered to secure a record 19th league title.

Nice one, a good opportunity for us to extend our 100% record against the rags at Wembley. And in their home town too!

It's a great game to raise money for charities but aside from that it's a non-event and will have no bearing on how the season turns out. Just a good day out to start the season.

City will be potless if Tevez does one they lack a leader!

Let's wait until the transfer season has panned out over the next month before starting the banter, eh? For myself, I'm glad we're up against City, because I'm bored of seeing the usual suspects aspire to our crown, and I'd prefer to see the silverware remain in Manchester. On the Red side, of course!

as it is a charity event will the east side of the national stadium remain behind for the prize giving ??

Couldn't really care less about the Community Shield, Derby or not it is always a meaningless game.

And Berties, don't read into that comment as if I'm worried about iccle Citeh, Nope, not at all. You would understand why it's meaningless if City had played in it almost every year for the last two decades.

It's just a warm up and hopefully no injuries, then the real games begin.

We all know it is a meaningless friendly, but for two things - games against the debtors are never meaningless or friendly and are only classed as such by them when they are nervous of the outcome. (that's been going on for fifty years that I know of)
I assume that winning this meaningless game is not listed on United roll of honour then? I thought not.

Because it was supposed to be a friendly I was considering taking my granddaughter to it but then I thought about the unreported aftermath of the semi, .............probably not safe.

Should be held at OT with a 50/50 ticket split! It would save being fleeced at rip-off Wembley plus transport costs!
