ASHTON United hit Altrincham for six in the new Carthium Cup last night to book a first-round trip to Droylsden.

Trailing 2-1 at the break, the Hurst Cross Robins bounced back in sensational style to win 6-2, with second-half strikes by Colin Alcide, Paul Garvey, Josh Mitten and Nicky Clee, plus a Steve Aspinall own-goal.

Aspinall had earlier fired Alty back in front with a 36th minute penalty, after Ashton's Pete Carty had wiped out Colin Little's early opener. Tweet
