Football fixtures 2009/10 here

FIXTURES for next season's Premier League and Championship are published at 10am on Wednesday and you can read them first here.

It should be a straight forward matter of matching every team in the league home and away - but in the highly charged world of modern football, even the fixture list can be the subject of controversy.

Sir Alex Ferguson criticised last season's schedule, claiming United were given an unfair run of games in the first half of the season. He also complained that his team had to play away from home immediately after three away games in the Champions League.

Sir Alex said in January: “I’m not saying what they do down there, but next year we’ll be sending somebody to see how it happens, I can assure you. I just don’t understand how you can get the fixtures like that.”

It is understood that United did send a representative to London to oversee the drawing up of next season's fixture list.

SAF will complain whatever happens. That is his way of trying to wind up the opposition. If he played every match at home he would still find something to complain about. How can he say they had an "unfair run of games in the first half of the season"? His team played just the same number of games as anyone else. Silly man.

Ferguson does like to have a moan does'nt he; referees not giving enough added time when his team are losing or drawing at 90 minutes; referees adding too much added time when his team is winning at 90 minutes; state of the playing area which is either too good or too bad and, now this, criticism of the fixture schedule. I for one am beginning to believe that United's success has less to do with their football games but more to do with Ferguson's psychological games.
