M.E.N. Player of the Year award

IT was a dramatic season for our local football teams - and we want you to help us choose the Manchester Evening News player of the season.

Today we publish our verdicts on the 200 players to have turned out for our sides over the last nine months, from Premier League to non-league.

Our sports writers have assessed United, City, Bolton, Wigan, Oldham, Stockport, Rochdale, Bury and Macclesfield, as well as the cream of semi-pro soccer.

We are searching for the player who deserves to be crowned M.E.N. Sport's player of the season, a competition we are running in association with flybe.com.

M.E.N. sports editor Peter Spencer, online journalist Paul Handler and Channel M sports editor Mike Bradley will sift through the candidates.

But we want you to chip in with your expertise as well.

Unsung

Who do you think should be the player of the season and why?

And who would be your unsung player of the season?

Send in your views - in not more than 100 words - to: Peter Spencer, Sports Editor, Manchester Evening News, Number 1 Scott Place, Manchester M3 3RN or e-mail sportscomps@men-news.co.uk putting `player of the season' in the subject area.

One lucky reader will get the chance to present the award to our player of the season - as well as two return flights to a destination of their choice (subject to availability), courtesy of flybe.com.

Deadline for entries is Thursday, July 31. Normal M.E.N. competition rules apply, and the decision of the judging panel is final.
