PIPPO Inzaghi scored a double as AC Milan gained Champions League revenge against Liverpool.

Rafa Bentiez' men - who triumphed over the Rossoneri so memorably two years ago - started brightly but conceded a goal on the stroke of half-time.

Andrea Pirlo's free-kick was deflected in by Inzaghi and the goal proved a turning point in the match.

Liverpool lost their rhythm after the break although Steven Gerrard missed an opportunity to draw level.

Inzaghi sealed it for Milan when he finished smartly from Kaka's through ball. Dirk Kuyt scored a consolation when he headed home from close range, but there was to be no repeat of 2005's heroics and Milan lifted the trophy.

The better team lost a fluke free kick won it be proud utd will laugh but since their fluke in 99 they have never been good enough benitez system suits europe there will be many more nights to come holding old big ears

So all the bitter city fans who predicted a Liverpool sixth win ,no doubt will be more bitter than ever .After all though what do they know about football ,and winning things!

They played well the first half but battled to do very much in the second half , a pity but its the goals that count

Unlike many, I am not a Liverpool hater and before the game, wished them well. But how on earth did AC Milan beat us in the semi? They and the game was so bereft of quality, I nearly turned on the video of the cup final for entertainment!! As for the sycophantic commentary, it made me have a bucket nearby. Surely quote of the season (said seriously) from that knownothing David Pleat as Kewell ran on having played only 46 minutes all season was that he was at least FRESH, brought tears to my eyes. His regular references to Milan beating "Manchester" nearly made me choke. On that form they would not have beaten any Manchester team.

The only redeeming feature was the magnaniminity of the scousers post match. Admirable. Footballwise they were poor and we (and Chelski) must be kicking ourselves that we were not there. WE won the numero uno trophy and as Champions of the EPL we can be even better next year.

Credit to Liverpool for the graceful way in which they accepted defeat. A few other teams could learn a lot from them. Mentioning no names.

Yeah I saw them throwing bottles, chairs and anything they could find - at the Italian fans outside the ground after the match.
(Well at least one news programme had the nerve to show it!)

They took defeat really well didn't they???

according to uefa up to 5000 scousers blagged there way into the stadium without having a ticket. the consequence was that hundreds of genuine liverpool fans with tickets were locked out.

Regarding the forged tickets. In this age of computers,why can't the ticket purchaser's name be printed on the ticket,then all they would have to do is show their passports at the turnstiles with their ticket?
