IT MAY be Valentine's Day but Rochdale manager Steve Parkin will be showing no great affection for referee Olivier after his scandalous decision to dismiss skipper Gary Jones midway through the second half turned the game on its head.

Kevin Townson's twelfth goal of the season gave the visitors a 30 second minute lead and until the dismissal of Jones there seemed no way back for the home side.

Enter Mr Olivier. The official who earlier did not even speak to Northampton keeper Harper even though he had handled the ball outside his penalty area and it was all downhill thereafter.

Chris Hargreaves equalised on 68 minutes with a close range effort, Paul Reid headed home a Martin Smith corner on 80 minutes and after Neil Edwards missed his punch young Brazilian Magno Vieira added a third two minutes later. Tweet
