ROCHDALE blew away their promotion chasing visitors and but for the brilliance of former Manchester United keeper Kevin Pilkington they would have won by a much wider margin.

Skipper for the day Gary Jones opened the scoring from the penalty spot after just eleven minutes and Grant Holt marked a brilliant home debut with a first goal for the Club on 27 minutes.

Either side of the break Pilkington made stunning saves to keep Mansfield in the game but was powerless as Kiwi flyer Leo Bertos back in the Dale side after a month away representing his country curled home a stunning 25 yard free kick to complete the scoring on 53 minutes.
