Southend 4 Rochdale 0

ROCHDALE have proved on more than one occasion this season that they can play with ten men. Against struggling Southend they tried it with one - goalkeeper Neil Edwards and not surprisingly it didn't work.

Southend haven't won at home since August and scored only seven goals in the process but controlled the game from beginning to end.

Only the brilliance of Edwards kept his side in the first half hour but two goals in as many minutes from Tes Bramble with his defenders playing at statutes left the Welshman helpless.

A James Corbett penalty after a needless Gareth Griffiths shirt pull added a third on 67 minutes and showed the way to Lee McEvilly who wasted Dale's only chance of the game also an unnecessary penalty just before the break.

To rub more salt in an already open wound Sean McClare saw red for an awful 85th minute challenge on Kevin Maher as frustration got the better of him and to top off the day substitute Leon Constantine netted a majestic lob following another defensive howler with his first touch to round off the rout.

just like to say that its all very well alan buckley bringing in new players, but why not work with the ones we have first? lets face it, a new player every other week cant be good for the teamas they try to gel? its going back to the 'lump it up the field' style we employed last year.

Buckley has to go, his constant dropping of Townson and lack of anything constructive in the way of tactics/new players is dragging us down.
