Flitcroft: I want new Dale deal

DAVID Flitcroft would love to stay at Spotland, but has admitted that he may have no option but to sign for rivals Macclesfield.

The 29-year-old midfielder was hoping to secure his future with Rochdale having won the club's player of the season award for the past campaign.

But with new boss Alan Buckley yet to offer him terms, the security of Macc's deal could prove too tempting to turn down.

"I've had an offer from Macclesfield Town, but I really want to stay at Spotland,' Flitcroft told Dale's official site.

"The simple truth is I've not been offered anything yet at Rochdale and with so many players looking for work at the moment when you are offered a contract and nothing else is in the pipeline at the club you're at, it's hard to turn it down.

"I have been given no assurances about my future at the club. I'm not greedy, I'm not asking for big increases in salary. I just want to continue to play football for Rochdale."
