The visitors were never second best and took a nineteenth minute lead through Kevin Nugent.
Undeservedly Dale equalised through Gareth Griffiths just before half time and after the break they could have had a penalty and saw Swansea keeper Neil Cutler make two excellent saves.
Swansea secured the points to add to the growing pressure on Paul Simpson when substitute Marc Richards converted a right wing cross with his first touch as the Dale defence again went absent.
After a promising start, Dale's season has slumped and Simpson will be keen for a strong finish to boost his case for a renewed contract.
