Hill fires Dale warning

A THRILLING second half fightback saw Rochdale at least gain a point against Wrexham, but caretaker boss Keith Hill sent out a warning to his side's sloppy defence.

Having gifted their visitors a two-goal lead, striker Glen Murray and veteran midfielder John Doolan ensured that at least the recent run of defeats was brought to an end.

Hill said: "You have to be disappointed with our defending and if we continue to concede goals like that it will be very difficult to win football matches."

Former Dale striker Lee McEvilly gave the visitors the lead with his first touch after coming on as a half-time substitute and was instrumental in Wrexham's second goal, as Matt Gilks could only parry his volley to Chris Llewellyn.

Loan striker Murray headed home a Gary Jones cross to halve the deficit and a powerful header from Doolan rattled in off the underside of the bar to give Dale a point.

Though Hill still fancies the manager's job on a permanent basis, chairman Chris Dunphy is looking to make his choice known by the weekend.
