Rochdale

Oxford 2 Rochdale 0

Rochdale's headlong tumble down the third division continues with a first ever defeat at the hands of Oxford.

Whilst the last few weeks have been littered with defensive mistakes this time it was the forwards who let player-boss Paul Simpson down as they failed to make the most of a host of crosses that were delivered into the Oxford box.

The home side showed Dale the way with well-taken goals on seventeen minutes through David Savage and Steve Basham, both of which came against the run of play in a game in which Rochdale enjoyed the bulk of possession but showed little or no inclination, Simpson apart, to turn their superiority into goals.
