DEFENDER Nathan Stanton has become Rochdale's second signing of the summer after a successful trial spell.
Dale boss Steve Parkin said: "I tried to get him last season and I think he will be a good signing for us.
"I'm sure we will be a better defensive unit this season."
Meanwhile, Darrell Clarke is just the man to give Rochdale some flexibility in midfield, according to Parkin.
Clarke, who joined Dale from Hartlepool on a six-month deal yesterday, played for Parkin at Mansfield.
"I know he will give us an option," said the Dale manager. "We are a little light on numbers with Gary Jones' injury, and Darrell gives us an option to play wide or in a three."
