But Parkin won't risk missing out on any new signings by naming the four players who, he says, are all being tracked by other clubs.
"I know the fans love to hear names and for me to mention targets, but if I do this it does bring these players to the fore somewhat," he said.
"I've no doubt at all that my targets are being chased by other clubs, so I'd rather do the nitty-gritty and then introduce the players to the fans.
"I know this is frustrating but it's done for a reason and that reason is the long-term benefit of the club. Without naming names, I can confirm two wingers and two experienced centre-backs have been spoken to in the last few days. I've got positive vibes on all these players but, as usual, it's a case of wait and see what develops.
"We all know these signings are going to be instrumental to the side next season. We need to improve defensively without a doubt, we need leaders at the back and this comes with experience. We also need two wide men."
