A SPECTACULAR Rickie Lambert strike, his fifth in three games, gave Rochdale a deserved win in a highly competitive and none-too-friendly pre-season game.

Lambert and strike partner Grant Holt - a former Barrow player - created chances throughout but a mixture of poor finishing, brilliant goalkeeping and bad luck kept the scoreline down.

At the other end, Dale's new-look defence coped admirably with anything their plucky opponents could throw at them as they retained their unbeaten pre-season record.
