Rochdale 0 Yeovil 1

Yeovil inflicted a second successive defeat on Rochdale as Luke Freeman’s goal midway through the second half separated the teams in a closely fought contest at Spotland.

The teams traded half chances in the opening five minutes, Gary Jones’ thumping drive forcing Stephen Henderson into a save and Sam Williams making the most of the swirling wind to get goalside of Craig Dawson, his shot blocked by Josh Lillis.

Rochdale took control and went close when Dawson headed Brian Barry-Murphy’s corner wide of the upright before Jones scuffed an edge-of-the-area effort having been teed up by Jean Louis Akpa Akpro.

Yeovil finished the opening period in the ascendency but rarely threatened Lillis’ goal, Owain Tudor Jones’ 25 yards effort the best they produced before half time.

Andy Williams was close to turning in Sam Williams shot for Yeovil and at the other end Jason Kennedy struck the post with a snapshot from Joe Widdowson’s delivery.

Yeovil took the lead in the 66th minute when Tudor Jones’ strike was turned onto the post by Lillis and Freeman slid the rebound into the net.

Dawson hit the underside of the crossbar in the 86th minute when he connected with Barry-Murphy's corner, but it wasn't to be for Rochdale.

Is the Observer just a history book on Rochdale football now? I don't see anything about the team since TWO weeks ago. What happened?
