Rochdale: season player ratings

Rochdale reporter Richard Partington gives his verdict on the players for their performance in the 2009/10 season.

KENNY ARTHUR: Was coming into form in the autumn when back injury struck 6

TOM HEATON: Highly impressive in his dozen games on loan from Manchester United. Quietly efficient, he was the best keeper on show 9

FRANK FIELDING: Had a big job to do filling the shoes of Heaton, but demonstrated strong character to prove his worth 7

CRAIG DAWSON: Must rate as the most impressive debut season in the club's history. Immense in defence with 11 goals to boot 10

TOM KENNEDY: The best left-back in League Two, composed in possession, a cool head at the back who always provided excellent delivery even in tight situations 9

NATHAN STANTON: Rediscovered best form and forged a strong central partnership with Dawson. Experience and leadership skills proved invaluable as things got hectic 8

RORY McARDLE: Injury and the form of Dawson reduced his opportunities, but filled in to good effect when called upon 7

SCOTT WISEMAN: Pacy right-back provided attacking threat while defensive know-how improved greatly as the season progressed 7

JASON KENNEDY: Intelligent distributor of the ball, he added a new dimension to Dale's midfield. Voted Players' Player of the Year 9

GARY JONES: Skipper was major influential despite injury sidelining him for a couple of months. Driving force was as good as ever on his return8

JASON TAYLOR: Ensured promotion charge stayed on track when Jones was injured. Commitment and bite in centre typified Dale's hard-work ethic 8

WILL ATKINSON: On-loan Hull youngster provided great quality on the left. Prepared to track back as well as get forward 8

JOE THOMPSON: Most improved member of the squad displayed great maturity in his performances, offering defensive cover and an outlet going forward 8

KALLUM HIGGINBOTHAM: Out of the picture at the start of the season, he played his part towards end of campaign as an impact substitute 6

CHRIS DAGNALL: Thrived on responsibility heaped on his shoulders after the sale of Adam Le Fondre, netting 20 goals 9

CHRIS O'GRADY: Return of 22 goals spoke volumes, but much more to his game than finishing. A vital part of Dale's strong spine 9

Quite remarkable Richard. If you look at the ratngs you gave each player after each game they came nowhere near the ratings you have shown here.

Do agree that Craig Dawson must be the best debut player in the clubs long history
