ROCHDALE squandered a wonderful opportunity to stretch their lead at the top of League Two to eight points after Aldershot equalised with three minutes left.

Chris Dagnall had given Keith Hill's men a 74th minute lead after a neat turn on the edge of the box. He raced towards the on-rushing Jaimez-Ruiz to lift the ball into the back of the net.

Louie Soares scored from close range in the 87th minute to earn a draw for Aldershot.

Hill said: "A point increases our lead at the top, it was a great second half performance with a great goal from Dagnall and theirs was a good goal too.

"Just before they equalised, Dagnall had a wonderful opportunity and on another day we would have won 2-0."

Using a word like 'squandered' suggests that Dale were wasteful, or apathetic. Far from it. It was a good team performance against a very organised Aldershot side, who made life difficult for Dale. Some of our play was outstanding - a fact borne out by the post match comments of the opposing manager and impartial observers. `Best side we've seen here in years' was a comment made to me by Shots fans, when leaving the ground. Chris Dagnall's goal was fantastic, and this Dale team is going places. Get to Spotland and enjoy the ride.

Painful late equaliser but absolutely brilliant that Rotherham were beaten at home by rock bottom Darlington.... they will be dales biggest threat if they win their games in hand.
