Rochdale

Preview: Rochdale v Accrington

ROCHDALE have turned Lee McEvilly's loan stay into a permanent deal and signed the striker on a free transfer from Cambridge United.

The 26-year-old has agreed an 18-month contract at Spotland having impressed with two goals in two games since joining for a third spell with the club.

Dale, meanwhile, will be out to maintain their stranglehold over Accrington Stanley at Spotland.

Keith Hill's men have yet to taste defeat at the hands of John Coleman's side since their return to the Football League in 2006.

Dale will be looking to get their play-off pursuit back on track after Sunday's defeat at Port Vale, though captain Gary Jones (knee) is unlikely to be fit for the clash. Strikers Jon Shaw and Lee Thorpe are also set to miss out.

Coleman's team have suffered two heavy defeats at Spotland in the last two seasons but Stanley skipper Peter Cavanagh said the poor record can drive Accrington towards a positive result this time.

"For me, not having won there gives me a little more desire to put it right. I think their manager has been a bit smug at times about beating us and we want a bit of that smugness," he said.

I don't know who wrote this but it is full of errors. Lee McEvilly is back at the club for a third spell, and Accys loan striker, Jamie Clarke, has gone back to his club Blackburn Rovers.

Other than that.....Up the Dale
