ROCHDALE were victims of a second round FA Cup shock at the hands of Forest Green Rovers going down 2-0 at the New Lawn.
Rovers lie fourth from bottom of the Blue Square Premier but, with the magic of the cup, threw the formbook out of the window.
The hosts took the lead 27 minutes into the game when Paul Stonehouse's cross found Jonathan Smith who, with bags of space, beat Sam Russell.
Then 10 minutes into the second half, Rovers doubled their lead. A long ball from inside his own half by Gerry Gill set up Josh Low. The Rovers winger was left one on -one with Russell and produiced a neat finish to beat the him.
Keith Hill's men threw everything at the visitors as they tried to rescue a replay.
Their best chance fell to Mark Jones 10 minutes from time but his effort sailed over Terry Burton in the Rovers' goal.
