The Dale boss is hoping to see his side move up to second place in League Two with victory at Gillingham tonight - and insists his record has justified the board's faith in him.
"We find ourselves sitting in third place," said Hill. "It couldn't really have gone much better for us and who would have forecast us being where we are now when we started the journey?
"It is fair to say I don't think I was anybody's first choice for the job and we had to work hard to make ourselves contenders. I am sure that if certain people had had their choice I would not have been manager here."
