Rochdale 2 Luton 0

ROCHDALE made it five league wins from their last six games with a 2-0 victory over Luton Town at Spotland.

A goal in the opening two minutes of the game provided the ideal start for Rochdale. A quickly-taken freekick from Clark Keltie set Scott Wiseman free down the right and his cross towards the near post was met by Lee Thorpe, whose diving header beat Conrad Logan.

Dale were awarded a penalty in the 59th minute when Ian Roper fouled Rory McArdle. Adam Le Fondre, fresh from a midweek hat-trick against Barnet in the FA Cup, notched his fourth goal of the week from the penalty spot, driving the ball down the middle of Logan’s goal.

Sam Russell had a quiet afternoon in goal for the hosts until the 78th minute when he saved Dean Talbot's bullet header.
