The game ebbed and flowed from end to end and a breathless Dale boss Keith Hill was a very pleased man.
He said: " It felt like a cup tie and I was enthralled by it as both sides wanted to win.
"There was a lot of bravery out there and everyone of my players took the lead. It is fantastic to see them do that at such a young age."
The game got off to a flying start when Dave Perkins gave the home side the lead after just 29 seconds but Bradford equalised on the hour with a Peter Thorne penalty.
The winner came with just two minutes to go when Le Fondre latched on to a Lee Thorpe flick.
