Dale clash frozen off

A groundsman at Rochdale tries to warm the pitch, but the game was called off

THE ground staff at Spotland have lost their battle against the weather and have been forced to postpone tonight's clash against Notts County.

Despite lighting a series of fires in oil drums on the pitch, the ground is still too hard and the game has been called off.

Before news of the postponement, boss Keith Hill spoke of his optimism at Dale's current form: "We have got ourselves in a great position and we really want to do well. We haven't really had any blips prior to losing three games on the run so I was expecting a vote of confidence from the chairman or possibly the sack.

"We are doing our best to make sure that we have now come through the blip but our home form has not been good and we have got to make sure that we come up with a plan that ensures that we pick up points in front of our home supporters."
