Hereford 1 Rochdale 1

LACKLUSTRE Rochdale can count themselves lucky that they escaped from Edgar Street with their first point of the season.

Dale did start brightly and led on 21 minutes when Chris Dagnall won and then converted a debatable penalty.

Hereford hit back within five minutes when following a quick free-kick taker Theo Robinson caught the Dale defence flat footed and blasted home from 12 yards.

The visitors defended resolutely and had keeper James Spencer to thank for three or four excellent saves as Hereford attacked in waves in a second period in which Rochdale never seriously threatened.
