OLDHAM take on big derby rivals Blackpool tomorrow with caretaker boss John Sheridan telling his players: "Let's be ruthless."
He explained: "We have been creating chances for fun and should really have had more points in the bag.
"We need to turn draws into wins, which is what the top sides learn to do.
"We are going there to get a result."
Sheridan, along with fellow coach and former Blackpool favourite David Eyres, have been given five more games to show they are worth full-time appointments.
They will be boosted by the return of tough defender Will Haining, but that means a dilemma for Sheridan, who may stick with the side that beat Sheffield Wednesday last week.
Impressive
The defence kept a second successive clean sheet and Stoke's on-loan centre back Gareth Owen made an impressive debut.
Sheridan could drop himself and push Danny Hall into midfield, which would allow Eyres a start while he takes charge on the touchline.
Striker Calvin Zola is expected to have recovered from a back strain but suspended skipper John Eyre and injured Darren Sheridan will again be missing. Oldham have won only once away all season and the Seasiders have already beaten them twice, including knocking them out of the FA Cup.
The Latics have scored four goals in those games with Blackpool hitting eight.
But Sheridan's side have lost just one of their last six and he added: "We have tightened up a lot at the back and I believe we can score in every game."
