OLDHAMS hopes of snatching the second automatic promotion place looked to have disappeared after they had to seetle for a point at relegation threatened Cheltenham.

Travelling fans were stunned into silence when the home side went in front inside two minutes.

Iain Dowie's side was caught cold with a set piece and Mark Yates was left with time and space to drill the ball past stand-in keeper David Miskelly.

The Latic's survived a 26th minute penalty appeal with the referee waving play-on after John Brough went down in the box under a Fitz Hall tackle.

The game was all square again when Oldham levelled in the 32nd minute.

Josh Low curled in a corner and veteran winger David Eyres climbed high at the fay post to head in his 13th goal of the season.
