With the club losing '50,000 a week, chief executive Alan Hardy has announced that cutbacks will have to be made.
But having already released a number of players and made others available for transfer, the alleged level of cutbacks to the backroom staff are sure to shock the fans who are hoping the Latics can secure promotion to the first division.
According to the Oldham Chronicle, manager Iain Dowie is in the process of deciding who will be leaving and at least one member of staff has already been told they will go.
The report adds that the club will axe at least three members of staff, with those employed in the youth set-up particularly vulnerable.
The people involved with the club's School of Excellence are Bill Urmson, John Sheridan, Tommy Wright, Jack Edwards, Gil Prescott and Ron Millward.
Will cutting the youth set-up create long term problems? Have your say.
