OLDHAM crashed to their sixth home defeat of the season as they went down at Boundary Park to Plymouth.

And their hopes of snatching a top two automatic promotion spot are fast disappearing.

Iain Dowie's side have now won just one of their last six games taking a meagre six points from the 18 on offer.

They trailed 1-0 at the break and despite improving in the second half were unable to break down Plymouth's defence.

Plymouth's goal came in the 39th minute when big striker Mickey Evans drew defenders towards him on the edge of the box before letting fly with a superb shot which goalkeeper David Miskelly had no hope of stopping.

The nearest the lack lustre Latics came to equalising was in the 51st minute.

A spectacular over head kick from striker Wayne Andrews looked to be dipping into the net before Paul Wotton came from nowhere to make a goal line clearance.
