Preview: Swindon v Oldham Athletic

OLDHAM boss Iain Dowie has told his players to forget about their Worthington Cup giant-killing exploits and concentrate on picking up three league points.

They go to lowly Swindon on Saturday chasing a club-record 10 wins in a row - set in the 1973-74 season.

The high-flying Latics took their tally to seven on Wednesday when they ended first division Derby County's cup hopes.

Dowie insisted: "It is vital we keep the run going to stay with the others at the top.

"We have obviously been doing things right and the great result at Derby will have done us no harm.

"It was a measure to show how far we have come.

"But we have to go out and win game after game - that's what the really good teams do."

Dowie, the second division's manager of the month, added: "I have been very demanding but the players have responded superbly.

"They have done everything that has been asked of them."

Oldham will be without defensive strongman Clint Hill who starts a three-match ban.

Frenchman Julien Baudet, a sub at Pride Park, is his obvious replacement.

There is also a doubt over the in-form John Eyre, who was unwell after the game at Derby. Goalkeeper Les Pogliacomi, who has kept seven clean sheets in 11 games, returns after being left out in midweek.

And on-fire Dutch striker Clyde Wijnhard - his hot streak has brought 10 goals in as many games - will again lead the line, partnered by Canadian ace Carlo Corazzin.

LAST SEASON: 0-2

KEY OPPONENT: Sam Parkin - the former Chelsea striker had a loanspell with the Latics and will be keen to do well.

PREDICTION: 0-2

Will the Latics keep up their winning spree? Have your say.
