Keeper Les Pogliacomi kept his seventh clean sheet in 11 games and Dutch striker Clyde Winjnhard grabbed two goals against his former club. It was hardly a happy return to Boundary Park for Athletics boss Mick Wadsworth.
The home side made a quick fire start when the inform Wijnhard outstripped the defence to fire home after just 24 seconds.
Lack of fire power
Huddersfield, who have failed to score in their last four games, were given another lesson in finishing in the 18th minute when veteran winger David Eyres hit an explosive strike from 20 yards out.
Oldham, totally in control, made it three after 56 minutes when Wijnhard swept home from close range for his second goal.
The visitors were hit again 10 minutes from time when substitute Lourenco grabbed the 4th goal with a spectacular overhead kick in the box.
