Nottingham Forest 3 Oldham Athletic 0

TWO goals in three second-half minutes gave Forest a well-deserved victory against a Latics side who now face double training sessions on Monday and Tuesday.

Oldham boss Ronnie Moore had called for a renewed effort after last Tuesday's 1-0 defeat Blackpool, but instead saw his side produce arguably their worst display of the season.

After a fairly even first 25 minutes, Forest took the lead when Kris Commons' free-kick appeared to be diverted home by Latics centre-half Will Haining rather than new boy Grant Holt - if it was Holt, he certainly did not do much celebrating.

Chris Killen headed straight at Paul Gerrard from eight yards as Latics sought an equaliser, only to shoot themselves in the foot after half-time.

Holt created the second, playing in Nathan Tyson who was too fast for Haining and whose shot found the bottom corner, before the match was all over on 66 minutes as Day pushed out Commons' shot, only for Nicky Southall to tuck away the loose ball.

Just as Moore believed the afternoon could not get any worse, he saw Killen require stitches after a clash with Wes Morgan, while Haining may miss the rest of the season with a broken collarbone after he fell awkwardly while attempting an acrobatic clearance.
