Brentford 3 Oldham Athletic 3

FED-UP Latics boss Ronnie Moore accused his side of conceding 'stupid goals' as an 89th minute Lloyd Owusu strike saved a point for the Bees.

Chris Porter's 12-minute hat-trick - the first of his career - had put Latics 3-1 up after 23 minutes at Griffin Park, only for defensive errors to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory.

Moore raged: "They went in far too easily and I'm fed of saying week in week out, we're giving away stupid goals. For the lad (Owusu) to be on his own to head it in from six yards is unbelievable. If we had any sort of defensive awareness about us, we would be at the top of the table."

The first half had opened quietly enough before five goals arrived in 17 minutes before the half-hour.

Having scored twice in midweek against Chasetown, three headers saw Porter make it five goals in two games as Brentford's much-vaunted back four disintegrated.

Darren Pratley's volley and an angled strike from DJ Campbell ensured the hosts were only a goal adrift at the break before they dominated the second half.

With Latics dropping deeper and inviting pressure, they were caught out as an unnecessary free-kick given away by Paul Warne was headed home by an unmarked Owusu to leave Moore contemplating what might have been.
