Oldham Athletic 2 Yeovil Town 0

TWO first-half goals from debutants Chris Porter and Paul Warne got Ronnie Moore's new-look Latics side off to the perfect start to the season.

With eight new players in the starting 11, there was a 'getting to know you' feel about some of Latics' play but they proved too good for last season's League Two champions.

Porter got the ball rolling with the first on 24 minutes, heading a loose ball into an open goal after Rob Scott's long throw caused panic in the visitors' defence.

It was 2-0 two minutes later when terrific play on the dead ball line from Richie Wellens saw him cut the ball back for Warne to fire past Steve Collis.

Warne could have had a hat-trick but wasted two decent second-half chances, while home keeper Chris Day was largely untested by a misfiring Yeovil attack.
