Three games without a league win have plunged Brian Talbot's strugglers to just one point above the drop zone and defeat could see them back in the bottom four.
Oldham captain Holden said: "It's a massive game for us.
"The players got us into this and they have to get us out of it. We can't allow the situation to go from bad to worse.
"We have to start picking up points, it's as simple as that. It is important we all stick together and show the determination which got us out of trouble in mid-season when we moved out of the bottom places to 14th in the table.
"People will start firing bullets at us again and we have to be big enough to stand up and be counted.
"We are back in the mire and the pressure is mounting, but I am confident that the players have the character to see us through and turn things around.
"It is time to roll up our sleeves and get on with it."
Oldham are set to give a debut to 25-year-old Dutch defender Stefan Stam, who was signed earlier this week until the end of the season.
They will also be boosted by the return of 11-goal top scorer Chris Killen. The New Zealand international has figured just once in the last 14 games but came through a midweek reserve team test on a calf strain.
Killen, who scored in a 2-1 defeat against Stockport's second string, was brought off after 36 minutes as a precaution. He will be on the bench tomorrow.
Manager Talbot said: "The pressure will be on us, but it has been ever since I arrived. I am used to being in situations where we have to win games."

Sadly Mr Talbot appears confused yet again, now stating "he has always been in situations when we have to win games"....now that takes some working out.
Surely as Manager he should be making positive statements rather than the present daft ones which are usually in total contradiction of his early season statements.
Quite clearly he is no longer of sound mind and the Board will have to have a serious review of the situation if we DON'T get a result tomorrow and by that I mean a win.
Hopefully our best striker may be allowed OFF the bench at some time!... put bets on it that he will take a striker off to allow the change instead of being positive and letting our attack take pressure off our overworked defence...which has proved somewhat incapable over the last few weeks.
How can it be that practically the same players put out against Man. City have suddenly become useless ?.....
and like the manager clueless !!
A win for County tomorrow, no pressure on us at all now, no chance of staying up. As for Oldham they seem in freefall after beating Citeh !
Feeney Hat trick !!!
We have signed an experienced defender from Seffield Wednesday. No doubt Talbot will give him his debut even though he has not played in the league for the last eleven games. I expect the defence to be in another pickle!!!!!!!
With regards to Observers comments i just wanna say that if you go every week, which i no doubt claim to do them you will see that we roughly have the same team out most weeks to when we climbed out of the bottom places to eyeing a play off place. Has Talbot really lost it since then?! Has he lost it since the Man City or Bolton game (where i thought we played well in defeat)?! I really don't think so. As for his comments, yes, i admit that Talbot can be frustrating at times but at the same time he tells things how they are. I think he has gained the respect of the players because of this. And if you know Chris Killen you will know that he the most injury prone player in the squad, thats why he's being wrapped in cotton wool instead of throwing him in the deep end to get us out of this. Please, please try and Keep the Faith!
Hi "H" Stockport.
Fair comments accepted without any problems whatsoever...
I just feel that despite his wealth ? of experience...Manager at R & D with an almost bottomless pit of money thro' Doc Martins he was in a different situation than his previous jobs - from which he was sacked !....he is now in a situation whereby we have no available funds for players....and despite the FACT that there are still hundreds of quality players out of work - he and we are unable to find any.
I could think of a whole team who would have fitted the bill, he just appears to go a bit daft at times, like this week again for example, why have we got rid of a number of left sided players as surplus to his requirements - then acquired two ( I think ) more Stam and the other guy from Sheff.Wed.
who was stated on club page as being in the squad for today - then not in it because he has not played for weeks ????? that to me sounds like many other instances of PANIC MEASURES... did he not know he had not played ?????
I am sorry if you think I have lost faith maybe....after 50 + years of the same frustrations of the last two or three decades I perhaps have reason to get upset, I hope you last as long pal.
Can I ask you to explain maybe why he got rid of Jermaine Johnson ( who has I understand now joined Reading ), criticised him, Killen and a few others, and at the same time almost jumps to defend Jack who has been hopeless !!... and Betsy now who has been confusing to say the least...if you take what he done overall since he came here - there is a pattern of very strange moves, actions and tactics displayed by this man.
I am not one for demanding he be sacked - the fact the fans walked out on Tuesday should in fact indicate a very serious problem to you and to the Directors who will have to take some action to stop the rot and the fans vanishing altogether and making the whole scene even worse.
Best wishes - who are you supporting today ????? Good odds on a Stockport win !!!!!
Best wishes.
