Oldham Athletic 4 Chesterfield 1

ON-FIRE Chris Killen bagged another brace as Chesterfield became the latest side put to the sword by Brian Talbot's rampant Latics on Tuesday night.

Killen's blossoming partnership with Kevin Betsy paid off just three minutes in as the pair combined for the Kiwi to tuck a confident shot into the corner.

Old boy Mark Innes then saw Les Pogliacomi brilliantly tip his 20-yard stinger wide before Latics - spurred on by the outstanding Mark Hughes - made it two on 19 minutes. Steve Blatherwick fouled Killen, who picked himself up to score from the spot - taking his tally to 10 goals in seven games.

Betsy blazed inches over before the break, but found his range again on 55 minutes. Racing on to Killen's nod-down, he drilled a fierce left-footed shot past 'keeper Carl Muggleton from 25 yards.

Not to be outdone, teenage star Neil Kilkenny then sweetly notched his fourth goal in as many games. And the on-loan Birmingham man then smashed a fierce drive against the post before Talbot gave him and Killen an early rest. Caleb Folan managed a late consolation effort from close-range for Chesterfield.

OLDHAM: Pogliacomi, Holden, D Hall, Haining, Griffin; Croft, Kilkenny (Boshell 76), Hughes, Eyres (Tierney 88); Killen (Vernon 66), Betsy. Subs (not used): Mildenhall, Beharall.
