Oldham's stadium stunner

OLDHAM Athletic have unveiled plans for a '20m super stadium to be built on farmland just a few minutes' drive away from Boundary Park, their home for almost a century.

The 20,000 all-seater arena would occupy a 90-acre site which borders Foxdenton Lane, Hunt Lane and Broadway in Chadderton.

It would include indoor and outdoor pitches, tennis and cricket facilities and a running track as well as leisure, conference and banqueting suites.

A multi-million pound deal has been agreed with a local farming family and more talks are now planned with Oldham council and government funding bodies.

The new site is four times bigger than their current home and would be shared by Oldham rugby league club.

I would rather my son grow up with green fields and public footpaths around him than a football stadium. There are many walks in the area and I would like to know what, if any plans have been made for the surrounding environment and wildlife. Why ruin this area !!!
