Keeper Les Pogliacomi and midfield ace Mark Bonner both return after injury.
Giant Aussie Pogliacomi has missed four games with a groin stain, while Bonner has been sidelined for five matches with hamstring damage.
But Rodney Jack and Jermaine Johnson are both on World Cup duty and John Eyre is favourite to partner Chris Killen up front with Matty Appleby slotting into midfield.
Latics striker Scott Vernon, who has been on loan at Bloomfield Road, will have to sit out the match after a bid to make the move permanent was rejected.
Oldham have won only one of their last six league games and plunged to just two points above the drop zone.
But they are unbeaten in four home games and boss Brian Talbot is hoping that will be enough to keep them ahead of third-bottom Blackpool.
He said: "We don't have a bad record at our place and we must keep it going.
"It will be another tough one and we must stop making silly mistakes and giving away sloppy goals.
"That is what has cost us and after making a poor start to the season we are now playing catch up."
But Talbot added: "I am confident we can turn things round and start to climb the table."

Somehow last season we did Oldham 2-5 & 3-2 I recall. With a strenghtened squad who are finding their positions Pool are also playing catch up. Although Vernon will not feature I think the Latics will not cope with our Scott Taylor. I think Pool will win once more this time 1-2!!!
Why do Blackpool fans have this inbred arrogance with their team??
So what if you beat a team of kids twice at Boundary Park last year... you still are a poor 2nd division side heading nowhere due largely to a Chairman with no ambition whatsoever!
Our side is playing pathetically at the moment so yes I fancy a Blackpool win... but don't kid yourselves, Blackpool are nowhere near good enough!
Oh... and as we're scoring points, when did the mighty Seasiders last beat Oldham at Bloomfield Road?? Think you'll find its a while back
