Oldham back in Wijnhard hunt

OLDHAM Athletic's bid to sign Dutch striker Clyde Wijnhard is back on.

The 30-year-old former Ajax and Leeds United player has failed to fix himself up with a club and Latics boss Brian Talbot revealed: "Our deal is still on the table." Wijnhard, a free agent after leaving Portugese side Beira Mar, has initially been offered a month's contract and is due to make a decision later today.

Talbot said: "It is a take it or leave it situation -- as easy as that.

"He is registered with the English FA and out of work. He has had our offer for two weeks and the ball is in his court.

"Clyde trained with us recently and still needs to get himself fit and lose a bit of weight. But he knows what he is doing and is very strong. " "I am still intersted in taking another look at him and then see what happens from there.

"It is all down to the player." Wijnhard first signed for the Latics a couple of seasons ago and quickly established himself as a fans' favourite.
