Preview: Oldham Athletic v Stoke City

OLDHAM boss Brian Talbot was today plotting the Carling Cup downfall of Stoke City -- one of his former clubs.

The players were called in for a special Sunday session on the training pitch as they prepare for Tuesday night's first round clash.

Talbot said: "It will be a big test against a club from a higher division but will be ready for them.

"We want to do well in the competition and you can't ask for more than a home tie."

The side from the Coca-Cola Championship will be red-hot favourites to take the tie but Talbot added: "There is always the chance that over 90 minutes the underdog can triumph.

"We need to tighten up at the back but we have been scoring goals and It would be foolish to write us."

The contest will have added spice with the return to Boundary Park of former Latics skipper Clint Hill.

Oldham have cut admussion prices for the game which kicks off at 7.45pm. It will cost adults '12, with juniors and pensioners priced at '5.
