Dowie to take Latics to court

IAIN Dowie will take Oldham Athletic to court, claiming he is owed '80,000 by his former employers.

Dowie, now in charge of Crystal Palace and just one game away from the Premiership, will use a July 1 employment tribunal to claim that he is owed '50,000 for steering the club into the Division Two Playoffs and a further '30,000 from the transfers of Fitz Hall and Josh Low.

However the club's new owners will fight the case stating that his dispute comes from before they were involved with the club and so should be taken up with former owner Chris Moore.

Solicitors for the new owners, who helped bring Oldham out of administration, released a statement on the club's official site today saying: "Dowie's claim was instigated following the club's efforts to recover a Mercedes motor vehicle from him which was owned by Oldham Athletic.

'The current club is not liable for the debts of the previous company.

'Iain Dowie admitted he worked for Athletic without a contract. As a result he was able to talk to other clubs about a managerial position and this deprived Athletic of any compensation.

'The club believed that, as a result of Dowie working without a contract, he should not have the benefit of the status of a football creditor.

'Mr Dowie walked out on Athletic without giving or working any notice period.

'The club will call the new owners, chairman Barry Chaytow, chief executive Alan Hardy and the administrators to confirm that Mr Dowie was working without a contract.'

Mr Dowie showing his true nature....at last?

Mr Dowie whilst in the capacity of Manager at OAFC stated publicly many times that he did not have a contract.
The club offered him one and it was not what he wanted......He then kept everyone dangling on a string -PLAYERS INCLUDED !!!HE THEN WALKED !.. once he made that decision the club attained some stability - hence the results over the last 13 games...better than when Dowie was in charge.

Thanks for those good days though and helping to get our great club through the crises....Unfortunately there are more unsung heroes at B.P. who get no mentions or credit for what they did, one day hopefully our club will be great again and without Mr Dowie. try getting the money out of Mr Moore - he gave you plenty !!
