Oldham Ath

Season review: Player ratings

LES POGLIACOMI: Had a busier second season but, again showed what a brilliant shot-stopper he can be 8

DEAN HOLDEN: Cracking season from the big defender. Just got better and better in a tough campaign and also chipped in with four goals 8

WILL HAINING: Struggled a bit in the first half of the season but did endure a nightmare time with injuries. Recovered to become a key figure at the heart of defence with his no-nonsense approach 7

DANNY HALL: Teenager can look back on his first season in professional football with plenty of pride. Thrown in at the deep end, he's certainly one for the future 7

ADAM GRIFFIN: Another teenager who had to learn the hard way, but he did more than enough to make the left back berth his own 7

PAUL MURRAY: Best season and worthy winner of several player-of-the-year awards. Also got a career-best nine goals 9

MARK BONNER: Found the going tough after arriving on transfer deadline day but, by the end of the campaign, began to show some of his true flair 6

DARREN SHERIDAN: Yet again demonstrated his gutsy and combatitive streak as well as some skilful football 7

JOHN SHERIDAN: Came out of retirement to help in a time of crisis to show why he was voted one of the game's greats. Will be missed now he has finally quit 8

DAVID EYRES: AT 40, the oldest outfield player in the League. Gave up his place for the good of the club and his experience played a big part when recalled for the successful run-in against relegation 7

SCOTT VERNON: Yet another thrown in as a teenage unknown. Improved as he went on and finished top-scorer with 14 goals. A sterling effort 7

JOHN EYRE: Versatility proved a big bonus as he operated up front, out wide and in the middle. Deserves to be well satisifed with his efforts 7

GARETH OWEN: Had a very successful three-month loan spell from Stoke City and blossomed into a useful left-sided centre back. Don't be surprised if the Latics make a summer bid to turn his move into a permanent one 7

MICHAEL CLEGG: Saw his fortunes take a dive when new boss Brian Talbot switched Holden to his position. Had to settle for the bench and wasn't in the squad for the final fixture of the campaign 6

ERNIE COOKSEY: What you see is what you get. Honest, hard-working, energetic and earns an A for effort every time. Also scored five times 7

CHRIS KILLEN: A frustrating season which was blighted by one injury after another for the New Zealand international striker. Just six goals in two years at Boundary Park and needs a big season next time out 5

Jermaine J - frightens the life out of defences, a bit wayward but worth it for the difference he makes. Why on earth did Talbot ever play Dean Crowe? He wouldnt even make my local sunday pub team !
