Dowie's a wanted man

FORMER Oldham Athletic boss Iain Dowie is wanted by Leeds United to guide them back to the Premiership.

Dowie, who is chasing a play-off place with Crystal Palace five months after taking over, is seen as the man to transform the club's fortunes.

Dowie has done a superb job at Palace and the Eagles appear set for a place in the top six and the chance to move up to the Premiership.

And having also taken Oldham close to promotion before the club's financial problems forced him to sell off the bulk of a talented squad, Dowie is rated as one of the best managers outside the Premiership.

However he could be tempted to stay at Palace rather than move to a Leeds side that is likely to be stripped of its best players and where there will only be a pittance to spend on new signings.

Leeds have no chance of landing Iain Dowie. He'd be a fool to leave Crystal Palace in their present position.

With all due respect, who is really bothered about Dowie? He no longer has any connection with Oldham Athletic, so why is this story of interest to Latics fans?
