GOALS from Pawel Abbott and Keigan Parker handed Athletic their first home win since Valentine's Day.
A goal in each half proved too much for the Cumbrians as the Latics produced their most complete performance of the season to date.
An impressive opening saw Athletic take the lead when Alan Sheehan exchanged passes with Parker before accelerating into the area and squaring the ball for Abbott to slot home.
At the other end, Sheehan came close to an embarrassing own goal when he headed Matty Robson's cross straight at Dean Brill from six yards, only for the keeper to push the ball away.
Carlisle came closer still eight minutes before half-time as Scott Dobie sent the ball against the upright from 16 yards.
Parker then doubled Athletic's advantage seven minutes into the second half, bundling home a cross from Sheehan.
That proved more than enough to defeat the Cumbrians who failed to seriously test Brill as the game drew to a conclusion.
