DEAN Windass has stunned Oldham by vowing never to kick a ball for them again.

The veteran striker, on loan from Hull, insists he has played his last game for John Sheridan's League One promotion-chasers.

Windass, who earned cult status among Latics supporters after his heroics as a makeshift goalkeeper against Leicester last month, is angry about his lack of first team opportunities in recent weeks.

He said on his blog: "After playing just three minutes of Oldham's last two games I've told the chairman I'm not returning to the club. I feel let down and angry.

"In the last three days I feel promises that were made to me when I joined the club have not been kept.

"I was told manager John Sheridan wanted me to come to the club and that I would get the games I wanted and, hopefully, get Oldham into the play-offs."

The 39-year-old striker was a last-minute substitute against Leeds on Monday night and was left out altogether for the win against Millwall on Saturday.

"Last week, Shezza said he would not be playing me in the games against Millwall on Saturday and Leeds on Monday," said Windass.

"It was a fair shout as the matches were in quick succession and so instead of sitting on the bench I told him to put a young lad in my place so he could get some appearance money.

"But my understanding of this was that I would then be involved against Leeds. However, this time I was stuck on the bench and only came on for the final few minutes which was embarrassing and insulting.

"I turned down three Championship clubs to play for Oldham and I did it as a favour to a mate but now I've been let down. What's the point of sitting on the bench for a League One club? I could be sitting on the bench at Hull City?

"In fact, if I had stayed I'd probably be playing by now."

Last night Oldham were unavailable for comment.
