A goal in each half gave relegation-threatened Oldham three more vital points in their battle for second division survival.
They went in front in the eighth minute when Paul Murray hit a blistering shot from the edge of the box for his ninth goal of the season.
And the second came in the 74th minute when a delightful pass from Darren Sheridan sent Jermaine Johnson racing away, and the Jamaican international came up with a great finish.
Oldham had to suffer a nervous last 11 minutes after Swindon pulled a goal back through Rory Fallon.
It was tough luck on keeper Les Pogliacomi who had earlier made three superb saves to keep his side in the game.

Cannot believe that nobody has commented on this fantastic result. Living in Bristol I get few opportunities to watch my beloved latics...last saturday was sweet..and the vocal support of the faithful few hundred was inspiring.
Just hope we finish above Sheff Weds.
